Virat Kohli praised Shikhar Dhawan's mindset, stating that his positive attitude would help him recover from injury quickly. "He wants to play. I think such a mindset will help in healing injuries and he really wants to play, "Kohli said. Dhawan, however, will not be available for selection at the India vs Pakistan match on June 16.
Revealing the reason behind India's decision to remain with the injured Shikhar Dhawan and not requesting an official replacement, captain Virat Kohli said the team's management wanted opening services in the last half of the 2019 ICC World Cup and knockout round group stages. Dhawan has been out for at least two weeks after being hit on the left thumb by increased shipments from Pat Cummins during India's second World Cup match against Australia. Instead of mentioning substitutes, the management of the Indian team decided to keep Dhawan under surveillance and asked Rishabh Pant to fly as a closing. (Full Coverage of the 2019 ICC World Cup)

"Hopefully, the injury will heal quickly and he (Dhawan) will be available for the second half of our league and semi-final matches. From that point of view, we want to hold him back, hold him here, "Kohli said after the India vs New Zealand match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham was swept away by the rain. Kohli also praised Dhawan's mindset, stating that his positive attitude would help him recover quickly. "He wants to play. I think such a mindset will help in healing injuries and he really wants to play, "Kohli said.

Although there is no official deadline regarding Dhawan's recovery, Virat Kohli does provide an indication of the progress of left-handed players.

"Dhawan will be in plaster for several weeks. After that we will assess where he stands, "Kohli added.

However, it will be easier said than done because not only will fitness hit Dhawan but his ability to go down without problems will also be considered before putting him back in playing XI. "Throwing won't be a problem because it's not the dominant hand." What needs to be studied carefully is "the impact when crashing and catching, especially is that it slips," said India's agile coach R Sridhar.

In the absence of Dhawan, KL Rahul will open a fight with Rohit Sharma but the question mark for number 4 India remains. New Zealand games might have given ideas about Indian thinking, but unfortunately rain and rain did not even allow throwing. Both teams share points.

India will then face Pakistan on June 16 in Manchester with Dinesh Karthik or Vijay Shankar going to replace Dhawan in the XI match.
