Rupee rises 21 paise to 69.49 against the US dollar in early trade

Forex traders said market participants are waiting for the monetary policy of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the Bank of England and the Bank of Japan, scheduled for this week.

The Rupee appreciated by 21 percent to 69.49 against the US dollar at the trade opening on June 19, before the meeting of the US central bank.
The Rupee opened strong at 69.57 in the interbank foreign exchange market and then gained ground to touch 69.49 per US dollar, showing gains of 21 against the dollar. Forex traders said market participants are waiting for the monetary policy of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the Bank of England and the Bank of Japan, scheduled for this week. In addition, the positive opening in the national actions, the inflows of foreign funds and the sale of the US currency by exporters supported the rupee. On June 18, the Rupee had settled at 69.70 against the US dollar.

Foreign funds infused ? 31.73 crore into the capital markets on a net basis on June 18, according to provisional data. The BSE Sensex benchmark was trading at 251.93 points, or 0.65% to trade at 39,298.27, while the NSE Nifty traded at 11,782.70, an increase of 91.20 points, or 0.78%. Meanwhile, Brent crude, the world benchmark, was trading at 62.23 per barrel, up 0.14%.
