Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Web Series Heera Mandi: CAST REVEALED! Sonakshi Sinha,Huma qureshi.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for his signature, stunning and ostentatious period dramas.After gathering dust for 13 years, his passion project ‘Heera Mandi’ will finally see the light of the day as a Netflix project!

Though it was initially billed as a film, the format of Heera Mandi has now been transformed into a web series instead a film. This SLB project will be a big-scale costume drama revolving around prostitutes in the red light area in the Walled City of Lahore!

The Netflix web series will be set amidst the late 1800s to mid-1950s, and the 1st season has been split into 8 episodes reportedly. SLB has a stellar cast locked in for the project – Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi, Nimrat Kaur, Sayani Gupta and Manisha Koirala – all have pivotal roles.

“Sonakshi is in initial talks for Heera Mandi and has verbally agreed to be a part of the show. However, she is yet to sign on the dotted line. It’s a very powerful role with some shades of grey,”

Meanwhile, apart from Heera Mandi, Huma Qureshi will also be making a special appearance for a song in another one of Bhansali’s projects – Gangubai Kathiawadi.

The web series is expected to go on floors in the first week of April; with Bhansali directing the first two and the last episode, while Vibhu Puri will be helming the rest.
