The United Nations recognizes World Population Day as an important event to disseminate information about population issues around the world.

Every year, World Population Day is celebrated on July 11 to draw attention to population growth. Established by the United Nations Development Program in 1989, World Population Day is inspired by the "five billion people" interest of five billion people on 11 July 1987.

The United Nations recognizes World Population Day as an important event to disseminate information about population issues around the world.

Unlike every year, this year there is no specific theme but the day aims to draw attention to maternal health.

Observed over the last three decades, this day aims to analyze the impact of the world's population on our plans and programs and to find plausible solutions in this regard.

Given the threat to natural resources and growing natural disasters, the world's population poses a risk to sustainability. The day is also marked to celebrate fellowship with one another and to become aware of the responsibility to protect oneself.

The Population Division works closely with the agencies, programs, funds and agencies of the United Nations system to implement the population work program.

"The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is the global plan of action for a better future for all on a healthy planet. On the occasion of World Population Day, we recognize that this mission is closely linked to demographic trends, including population growth, aging, migration and urbanization, "said UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

As a phenomenon, World Population Day began to be identified after an unprecedented decline in mortality in the developed regions of the world. This day was a major success, as its lifespan increased from 30 to 67 years between 1800 and 2005, resulting in a sharp increase in the population, which increased from 1 billion to 7 billion in 2010.
