On November 26, 2008, the Mumbai terror attacks; which lasted for four days killing around 166 people and injuring over 300, rocked the nation. 26/11 was one of the deadliest attacks that the country ever witnessed and 11 years later it is still not over the havoc wrecked by 10 armed terrorists from Pakistan.

Today many people took to social media to pay tribute to the martyrs and one of them was industrialist Ratan Tata.

He took to Instagram to post a picture of him standing with police officials outside Taj with a heartfelt note. He praised the indomitable spirit of Mumbai and said that the city will never forget the scars and will "remain proud of the spirit and the sense of unity".

In the post he wrote, "11 years later, a lot has been said about the tragedy that commenced on 26/11/2008. The memory of standing outside helpless and of the carnage and loss of life, are still fresh and painful. We will not forget the scars and the needless suffering caused at the hospital, the railway station, the hotels and across the city. But most importantly, we remain proud of the spirit and the sense of unity displayed by Mumbai in all its power on that day. I will say it again: We can be hurt, but not knocked out."

Taj Mahal and Trident were the two Mumbai hotels that were targets of the 26/11 attacks. Taj was built by Ratan Tata’s great-grandfather, Jamsetji Tata.

When Taj reopened after the attacks, Ratan Tata gave a stirring speech saying, "We can be hurt but we cannot be knocked down," a line which he also included in his post today.
