IAS 2021 Application Form: Steps to Apply Online for Civil Services Exam

UPSC IAS 2021 notification was released on March 4. The UPSC IAS 2021 application was also activated along with the release of UPSC notification 2021. The last date to apply for the IAS 2021 exam is March 24. The IAS 2021 application was delayed because of the pending case regarding an extra attempt in the Supreme Court of India. The UPSC IAS application is a very important component of the IAS exam because the details filled in the IAS application form cannot be changed once accepted by the UPSC. The candidates must read the IAS eligibility conditions before filling the IAS application form so that their candidature will not be cancelled at a later stage of the exam.

UPSC IAS 2021 notification will describe the IAS application process in detail. All the important and essential details such as the application closing date, photograph size and dimension, IAS application correction dates and the number of vacancies are mentioned in the official communication. The IAS aspirants wait eagerly for the UPSC notification to know about the UPSC vacancies. The IAS exam cut-off will be proportional to the number of vacancies.

How to apply for IAS Exam 2021?

The IAS Application 2021 will have two parts. part one and part two.

For the new registration

  • Visit the official website of UPSC- upsconline.nic.in
  • Click on Exam Notifications tab.
  • Click on Apply Online link.
  • Click on the link available for Civil Services Part-I registration.
  • Read the application form instructions carefully and click on Yes.
  • Fill all basic information in the part-I application form such as:

Name

Date of birth

Category

Gender

Email ID

Contact number

Permanent address

Marital status

Parents' names

Community

Educational qualification

-

  • Once all the details are filled, click on Continue. Check all details in the online form carefully and click on Submit.

 Civil Services (IAS) Part-II Registration

For part-II registrations, candidates need to complete the following steps:

Step 1: Pay IAS application fee online (through SBI Net Banking/ debit card/ credit card) or offline (by cash through SBI bank challan) mode.

Step 3: Enter the following information in the Civil Services(IAS) online application form 2020:

Application fee payment details (except for fee exempted candidates)

Selection of examination centre

Step 4: Click on the 'I Agree' button after reading the declaration.

 Step 5: On clicking the button, a page with a registration number will be generated. Note down the registration number or take a printout of the page.

How to pay IAS Exam application fee?

Candidates can pay IAS Exam application fee in online or offline mode.

  • Online mode: Candidates can make online payment of application fee via Visa/ Master/ RuPay credit/ debit card or internet banking of SBI.
  • Offline mode: Candidates can make offline payment of application fee by paying cash at any branch of SBI. Regarding the same, the official website states, “Applicants who opt for ‘Pay by Cash’ mode should print the system generated pay-in-slip during part II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only.” Candidates must note that the ‘Pay by Cash’ mode will be deactivated one day before the application process closes. However, candidates who have generated their pay-in-slip before the process is deactivated can make the payment at any SBI branch during banking hours on the closing date.

Once the application fee is paid, candidates need to click on the Continue button and fill their preference for Civil Services Exam centre. Thereafter, candidates need to upload their scanned photo and signature as per the specification mentioned below:

Next, candidates need to click on the Continue button. On clicking the button, a declaration page will open on the screen. Candidates need to click on the I Agree button to agree to the declaration given by UPSC. Thereafter, candidates can submit the form by clicking on the Submit button.

Step 2: Fill IAS Exam Part-II Application Form

To proceed for part-II registration, candidates need to click on the Click Here for Part II link present on the official website of UPSC. On clicking the link, a new page will open wherein candidates need to enter their registration ID as well as the date of birth and click on the Submit button. On clicking the button, Civil Services Exam Part-II application form will appear on the screen. Candidates need to enter all asked details and click on the Submit button.

How to withdraw IAS application?

The candidates can withdraw their IAS exam application be doing the following

  • Visit the official website - upsc.gov.in
  • Click on the What's new section
  • Go to the Withdrawal of Application: Civil Services(Preliminary) Examination
  • On the new screen, click on the link given for withdrawal
  • Again click on the Application withdrawal link given at the right corner
  • Read the instructions and click on Yes button 
  • Enter your registration-id and press continue
  • Enter the following details:
    • Name
    • Gender
    • Date of Birth
    • Fathers Name
    • Mothers Name
    • Mobile Number
    • e-mail id

And select the option for the withdrawal of the application and press agree.

In the above manner, the candidates can withdraw their IAS application

Note: Candidates have to fill separate application forms for IAS Preliminary and Mains exams. Also, the official website informs, “In case of any guidance/ information/ clarification regarding their applications, candidature etc candidates can contact UPSC’s Facilitation Counter near gate C of its campus in person or over telephone number 011-23385271/ 011-23381125/ 011-23098543 on working days between 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs.”
