Chandrayaan-2: India unveils a spacecraft for the second mission of the Moon
The Indian space agency unveiled its spacecraft it plans to launch next month and expects to land on the moon in early September.

If successful, India will be the fourth country to achieve a soft landing on the Moon, after the US. UU., The former Soviet Union and China.

India's first mission, Chandrayaan-1, launched in 2008, was an orbiter and did not land on the surface of the Moon. This mission will focus on the lunar surface and collect data on water, minerals and rock formations.

The new spacecraft will have a lander, an orbiter and an explorer.

These are photos of the ship in the laboratory of the Research and Space Organization of India (ISRO), where scientists have been busy preparing the ship:

If everything goes according to plan, the lander and the rover will land near the lunar south pole in September. If it succeeds, it would be the first spacecraft to land in that region.

The rover is expected to run for 14 days on the Moon, ISRO president K Sivan told the Times of India newspaper. "The rover will analyze the content of the lunar surface and send data and images to Earth," he said.
